FAQ

Is there tour guide training in Taichung? When are the 2027 dates?+

Yes. TC Time Walk has trained city guides in Taichung since 2016. In 2027 there are four cohorts: English old-town cohorts starting 24 Apr (Flora), 3 Jul (Shine) and 2 Oct (Miguel), and a Mandarin all-in-one starting 15 May (Yu & Wen-ling). Those are the taster dates; everything runs at weekends.

Do I need a tour guide licence or an English test score?+

Neither. We don't ask for TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS scores, and you don't need a licence first. An interview decides, and after the route assessment you join TC Time Walk's city-guide roster.

My English isn't great. Can I still join an English cohort?+

Yes. There is no English test; the interview decides. Speaking comes from habit and practice, and the course starts from zero.

How is the Mandarin all-in-one different?+

It's taught in Mandarin and, on top of the old town, adds a 2-hour Nantun Old Street mini tour and a 4-hour cycling food tour: three routes in one go.

Can the dates change?+

Each lead coach shapes their course differently, and small changes to dates or content are agreed in the cohort's LINE group.

Minimum class size? Any public funding?+

A class runs with as few as two. The course was funded by the Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau in 2025.

Is the taster fee credited?+

Yes. If you go on to the full course, the NT$999 taster fee is credited.

35% off for a group of four

Bring three friends. Book a taster first and we'll be in touch to arrange an interview.

Companies · Schools · Associations

With organisations behind it, this can keep going

Community-rate places on the full course (new immigrants, returning mothers, 45+) are funded by companies — one company can put one local person through training.

Daily walks, guide training and free community tours are all kept going by paid programmes and organisations that back them. When a company, school or association joins in, training continues, community tours happen and local people keep telling the city's story. Every plan is clearly priced, with an instant quotation and a company invoice.
